Reticulated Python

Common name

Reticulated Python

Scientific name

Python reticulatus

Family

Boidae

Appearance

The appearance of the reticulated python changes immensely with locality and varies so much that it really cannot be summed up in one page. To get an idea of the variation just do a google image search for reticulated python. If you’re serious about learning about this species, I’d recommend clicking here.

Locality

Southeast asia and surrounding areas/islands.

Adult size

Again this varies with locality, but as a guide 16-22ft. This snake does however hold the record for the longest snake in the world at 33ft, so anything is possible.

Approx lifespan

12years+.

Recomended vivarium size

6x3x3ft should be considered the minimum for an adult. Larger specimens will inevitably need more space.

Diet

Rodents for smaller Reticulated pythons, adults will require rabbits and/or piglets, certainly nothing small like meal worms.
