Appearance

The general pattern on the great plains rat snake is very similar to that of the corn snakes, the colour however is very different. The colouration is a lot duller in this species, the background colour being a grey brown, with the saddles a darker shade, usually grey-brown or dark brown. This snake shows the spear head ("fleur-de-lis") on the head and the checkerboard pattering on the belly which the corn snake has.

Missouri, Arkansas, Colorado, Mexico.

Up to 5ft.

Up to 20 years.

36x18x18in.

 

Basic set up type

Woodland/Savannah. As with all snakes you must provide a hide in both the warm and and the cool end.

 

Diet

A diet consisting of rodents is best for the Great Plains Rat Snake.
