Appearance

The colour of the everglades rat snake varies with age. Youngsters have grey blotches on an orange/rust background. Adults still have the rust/orange background, but they have 4 stripes running the length of the body.

Florida, Everglades.

 

Adult size

5-7 ft.

 

Approx lifespan

Up to 20 years.

 

REcomended vivarium size

36x18x28in, larger individuals may require larger vivariums.

 

Basic set up type

Woodland, use wood and bark to create a few climbing opportunities but bare in mind these snakes are primarily terrestrial. Hides should be put in with the warm and and the cool end of the vivarium.

 

Diet

A diet of rodents is best for the Everglades Rat Snake.
