The base colour of the californian kingsnake is brown or black. This is patterned with white, cream or yellow and takes the form of bands, stripes or sometimes a mixture of the two.

A 30x15x15in vivarium will be sufficient for a single adult specimen.
Arid/Desert. Provide two hides, one in the cool end and one in the warm end. For substrate you can use tissue paper, newspaper, sand or wood chips (avoid pine/cedar). If you use sand/wood chips make sure you feed outside of the vivarium to avoid the snake ingesting substrate.
