Appearance

Adult baird's rat snakes are grey, brown/orange or orange with 2 distinct stripes running the length of the snake. This snake also has 2 dorsal stripes, the stripes are usually grey or brown in colour. The skin inbetween the scales (which is known as the interstitial skin) is usually a different colour to the actual snake, it may be orange, yellow or salmon coloured.
