Appearance

This is a medium sized stout bodied lizard with a short almost club like tail. The colour varies but is generally a dark (grey, black, brown) background with bright colours of reds, organges, yellows and even greens spotted randomly over the head and body. Click here.

REcomended vivarium size

4x2x2ft should be considered the minimum vivarium size for a single moroccan spiny-tailed agama, these are a large, active robust species.

 

Basic set up type

A desert environment with rocks set in the substrate which the lizard can make burrows or scrapes (small 'caves' dug out under surfaces, not large enough to be considered burrows) underneith. Make sure all rocks are secured in place so they cannot collapse and crush your pet. This species likes a hot basking spot, check the exact temperatures with weather patterns on the internet based on the exact locality of your pet.

 

Diet

The moroccan Spiny-tailed Agama is a vegetarian species and so should be fed grasses, greens, seeds, lentils, peas, etc.
