Appearance

The Mexican spiny-tailed iguana is more streamlined than other iguanas but is still large in its own right. Ths colouration is a blue/grey with some specimens having dark bands along the body and tail (all youngsters have them but in most adults the pattern is faded or even non existant).

 

Locality

Pacific coast of Mexico.

 

Adult size

Upto 4ft.

 

Approx lifespan

Upto 15yrs.

 

REcomended vivarium size

4x3x3ft should be the minimum vivarium size for a single specimen.

 

Basic set up type

Forest with some sturdy perches. Foliage will help provide shaded areas.

 

Diet

The diet of the Mexican Spiny-tailed Iguana is somewhat similar to the Green Iguana although they will eat some insects and the occasional rodent.
