Banded crickets
Gryllus bimaculatus, or black crickets as they are more commonly known are an ideal live food for larger slightly slower animals. Black crickets are much slower and 'less jumpy' than banded crickets and generally quite terrestrial. The adults are bigger and meatier meaning they have a larger size range (hatchlings are about as small as hatchlings or other crickets but they have larger adults) meaning they are ideal life food for anything from tiny dendrobates to small monitors. Black crickets (particularly adults) can be quite agressive when hungry so care must be taken when heaving them in the vivarium with your pets. I recomend you leave some fruit in the vivariumfor the crickets to eat to avoid them trying to munch on your pet.
Black crickets also seem to cope with humid environments better than banded or brown crickets so are ideal for feeding humid loving creatures.
Black crickets are probably the most widely used cricket (and live food for that matter) and are commonly available both online and in specialist pet shops.
